Nurses With Heart is very excited to announce our partnership with Silver Horizons New Mexico for this year’s Toiletry Basics & Paper Product Drive. Silver Horizons assists struggling, low-income seniors with remaining in their homes and enjoying a safe and secure quality of life, through minor home repairs, help with household bills, and the provision of free groceries.
New Mexico is the state with the highest percentage of seniors living in poverty – higher than any other state in the nation. Households in our area that are low-income spend about one-third of their income on food. The ongoing increases in food prices are destabilizing budgets and forcing low-income families to make impossible choices between food and other necessities. Additionally, SNAP/EBT benefits do not help low-income households cover the cost of toiletry items, which are in high demand among seniors.
We invite you to join us in supporting our local senior citizens (and the family members living with them) this winter season who do not have enough money for basic groceries. Nurses With Heart & Silver Horizons New Mexico will be collecting the following commonly requested supplies for New Mexico seniors:
Shampoo/Conditioner
Toothpaste/Toothbrushes
Deodorant
Disposable Razors
Lotion
Flushable Wipes
Toilet Paper
Facial Tissue
Paper Towels
Items can be dropped off between November 28 – December 19
at Nurses With Heart’s office: 1596 Pacheco Street, Unit 105, Santa Fe NM.
Thank you for your support!
