Nurses With Heart is excited to add another home health hint to our video blog – every week we will be posting a short video related to staying safe and healthy at home. This week we discuss helpful tips for fall prevention as well as what to do if you do fall.
As our family circles become smaller, so do the pool of caregivers available to care for their loved ones at home. This will continue to be the trend and by 2020, 56 million Americans will be 65 and older. Nearly 70 percent of Americans who reach 65 will be unable to care for themselves at some point without assistance, which can be due to illness or injury. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans and often interfere with the individual’s ability to remain at home. Home care fills the primary goal of most people, which is to age in the comfort of their own own homes. In the video below, we discuss the importance of fall prevention – thanks for watching!
